Why the Keyboard Skips Pull-Downs on iPad
Filling out a form on your iPad and using the next-field arrows above the on-screen keyboard? You'll notice they walk you through every text field — and skip right over the pull-downs.
The pull-down isn't broken. The keyboard just doesn't visit it.
Why
The iPad's on-screen keyboard is built for typing. Its next-field arrows are part of that typing flow — they move you between things you can type into. A pull-down isn't a typing field; it's a tappable menu. So the arrow scans the screen for text fields and skips everything else.
This isn't unique to PHR. It's how iPad works in every app — Safari, Mail, Notes, anywhere you mix text fields and pull-downs.
What to do
Tap the pull-down directly when you get to it.
- Use the next-field arrow to move through the text boxes.
- When you reach a pull-down, tap it. The menu opens.
- Tap your choice.
- Tap into the next text field to bring the keyboard back.
One extra tap — that's the natural iPad rhythm.
